Chandigarh, Sept. 4 -- Punjab is facing a severe flood crisis as the Ravi and Sutlej rivers continue to wreak havoc, submerging villages across 23 districts, including Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Ferozepur.

With over 3.55 lakh people affected and extensive damage to homes and crops, the state is bracing for further challenges as political leaders prepare to assess the situation.

The flood situation in Punjab remains critical, with 1,655 villages inundated across 23 districts, including Amritsar (390 villages), Gurdaspur (324), and Ludhiana (216). Amritsar alone has 140 villages still underwater, with the Ravi River's rising levels in the Ramdas area exacerbating the crisis due to a 100-foot breach in the Dhussi embankment.
