Chandigarh, Sept. 14 -- The Punjab government has issued directives to urban local bodies (ULBs) to expedite relief and restoration efforts in flood-affected towns and cities, prioritising immediate measures to address waterlogging, damaged infrastructure, and public safety, according to a government statement.
Local government Director Kulwant Singh instructed municipal commissioners and executive officers to promptly restore essential services, including electricity, sewerage treatment plants (STPs), and damaged roads through urgent patchwork.
Permanent road repairs and pothole fixes are to be deferred until after the monsoon season, though temporary fillings should commence immediately.
