Neeraj BaliChandigarh, Aug. 4 -- Punjab turned the spotlight on two of its weightlifting stars on Monday as Commonwealth Games silver medallists Lovepreet Singh and Harjinder Kaur returned home to grand receptions, with supporters lining roads, beating drums and celebrating the two medals that added to the state's rich sporting legacy.

The celebrations unfolded in different parts of Punjab but carried the same emotion. In Amritsar, hundreds gathered to welcome Lovepreet Singh after his silver-winning performance in Glasgow, while in Nabha, Harjinder Kaur was escorted to her village in a festive procession that began nearly 10 kilometres before she reached home.
