Chandigarh, March 30 -- Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise, and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday said a massive tax evasion racket has been unearthed within the state's hospitality sector, totalling approximately Rs 200 crore.
Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, the Minister revealed a deep-rooted and systemic trend of under-reporting income among dhabas, restaurants, fast-food outlets, and small eateries. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has launched a technology-driven crackdown, bringing 882 establishments under the scanner.
