Chandigarh, Dec. 2 -- A 22-year-old constable of Punjab Police, Gursimran Singh Bains, has earned a commission as a Flying Officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF). Currently posted in Mohali, Bains cleared the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview in his fourth attempt, marking a significant leap from the state police service to military aviation.

Originally from Rupnagar district, Bains completed his Bachelor of Arts through distance learning from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He joined Punjab Police as a constable in August 2022 and continued his Air Force preparation online alongside regular duty hours.
