Chandigarh, Aug. 31 -- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and ensure the immediate release of Rs 60,000 crore in pending funds to address the severe flood crisis affecting the state.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mann described the floods as the worst natural disaster in recent years, impacting nearly 1,000 villages and lakhs of residents across Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Pathankot, Ferozepur, Fazilka, and Hoshiarpur districts due to heavy rainfall and water released from dams.
