Chandigarh, Oct. 7 -- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday distributed Property Ownership Certificates under the "Mera Ghar Mere Naam" scheme, launching a phased exercise to provide formally recorded ownership rights to eligible families living in houses within the Lal Lakir. He said the programme would be extended across the state by December.

Mann said the initiative would particularly benefit poor, Scheduled Caste and landless families whose houses had remained outside formal revenue records for generations. Under the scheme, houses and plots in notified abadi areas will be surveyed and mapped using drone technology, with ownership details verified before a final Record of Rights is prepared.
