Ashok RainaPalampur, June 19 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and former union Minister Shanta Kumar on Thursday described a recent judgement of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on live-in relationships as a significant decision and urged the government to enact legislation on the issue.

Addressing mediapersons, Shanta Kumar said the High Court had recently heard a petition filed by a young couple living in a live-in relationship. According to him, both individuals had sought protection from the court, alleging that their families were pressuring them to return home. The couple maintained that they were adults and in a consensual relationship and requested protection from alleged harassment by their families.
