Sangrur, July 6 -- Punjab Police have arrested two alleged drug smugglers from Haryana and seized 4 kg of poppy husk (bhukki chura post) from a pickup vehicle in Sangrur district, officials said today.
Acting on a tip-off that the accused were transporting the contraband from Tohana towards Moonak in a pickup vehicle, a police team, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Major Singh, set up a checkpoint near Rampura Gujran village around 6.30 pm, they said.
During the checking, the police team intercepted the suspected vehicle and recovered 4 kg of poppy husk during a search.
The accused were identified as Jagseer Singh and Ashok Kumar, both residents of Bhaudia Khera village in Haryana's Fatehabad district. They were taken into custody and book...
