Chandigarh, April 2 -- The Block Samiti chairmanship elections in the Fattu Dhinga zone of Sultanpur Lodhi, in Kapurthala district of Punjab, turned into a virtual battlefield on Wednesday as violent clashes and reports of gunfire led to the indefinite postponement of the polling process.

The situation at the Dhilwan Block Samiti office escalated rapidly as supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the faction led by MLA Rana Inder Pratap Singh engaged in a fierce confrontation, creating an atmosphere of panic and chaos in the region.
