Chandigarh, Sept. 7 -- In a strong appeal ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today called for an immediate Rs 20,000 crore relief and rehabilitation package to support the state's flood-hit farmers and rural communities.
He also demanded a sweeping waiver on agricultural loans from both banks and cooperative societies to help farmers recover from the devastation.
Addressing reporters amid ongoing flood relief efforts, Badal emphasised the critical role Punjab's farmers have played in national food security through the Green Revolution.
