Chandigarh, May 1 -- Marking International Labour Day, hundreds of Congress workers and members of the working class staged a massive demonstration outside the Punjab Vidhan Sabha today, demanding a significant hike in minimum wages.

Led by Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the protesters gathered to challenge the AAP government's special legislative session convened today, which Warring characterized as a deceptive political maneuver.

Addressing the gathering, Raja Warring formally demanded that the minimum daily wage in the state be increased to Rs 750.
