Pune, Sept. 6 -- A group of Pune citizens took out a march from Balgandharva Chowk to the Pune Municipal Corporation on Sunday, demanding a ban on DJs and strict enforcement of noise pollution norms for the upcoming Ganeshotsav.
Around 300 to 350 citizens participated in the protest and submitted a memorandum to the Pune Police, urging authorities to prohibit the use of DJs during the festival.
Social activist Vidyanand Bapat, who has been raising the issue of DJ noise, did not participate in the march. Police security was deployed outside his residence, and Bapat informed the police that he would not be joining the protest.
