Jaipur, Sept. 2 -- The People's union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) Rajasthan has sought the immediate intervention of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to protect the institutional integrity of the Rajasthan High Court in the wake of allegations levelled against its Acting Chief Justice, Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, by Supreme Court judge Justice Sandeep Mehta.

PUCL national president Kavita Srivastava urged the CJI to ensure an early decision on the Supreme Court Collegium's recommendation for the appointment of a regular Chief Justice to the Rajasthan High Court.

"That a sitting judge of the Supreme Court has found it necessary to place a complaint of this nature on record, in writing, against the head of a High Court is an extraordinary event"...
