Chennai, July 23 -- The Principal Sessions Court on Thursday granted conditional bail to a journo observing that criticising ministers or the government could not be construed as an offence against the State or as an act disturbing public order, underscoring the importance of dissent in a democracy.
The observation came while granting conditional bail to journalist Vinoth Suriyakumar, who was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on July 15 for spreading false information about Tamil Nadu HR and CE Minister's alleged involvement in illegal transfer of Rs 100 crore worth 1.40 acre land belonging to the Arulmigu Dhandayudapani Swamy Temple in Palani (one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga),.on the social media.
