New Delhi, July 28 -- Public Sector Banks (PSBs) posted their strongest financial performance on record in FY 2025-26, with gross non-performing assets (GNPA) declining to a historic low of 1.9 per cent, while aggregate net profit rose to an all-time high of Rs 1.98 lakh crore, according to information shared by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, in the Rajya Sabha.

The combined business of PSBs crossed Rs 283 lakh crore as of March 31, 2026, driven by sustained growth in both deposits and advances. Total business increased to Rs 283.3 lakh crore from Rs 251.7 lakh crore a year earlier, while deposits rose to Rs 156.3 lakh crore and loans and advances climbed to Rs 127 lakh crore.
