Varanasi, Feb. 24 -- Police in Varanasi have frozen movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 13.53 crore belonging to one of the key accused in the illegal codeine-based cough syrup racket. According to officials from Kotwali police station, the action was taken against Manoj Kumar Yadav, son of Bhola Nath Yadav, under provisions of the NDPS Act.

The frozen assets include immovable properties and multiple bank accounts allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime. Police stated that Yadav, a resident of Ausanganj locality under Jaitpura police station limits in Varanasi, played an active role in promoting and assisting the syndicate led by Shubham Jaiswal.
