Patna, Aug. 2 -- Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday defended the state's prohibition policy, saying that while the liquor ban has cost Bihar significant revenue, its social benefits, particularly for women, have far outweighed the financial losses.
Speaking at the launch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India Pledge Campaign" in Patna, Choudhary said the nearly decade-old prohibition policy has helped reduce domestic violence and family distress. He also urged young people to play a leading role in building a drug-free and developed India.
