Varanasi, Nov. 17 -- In Varanasi, teams from the Food Safety and Drug Administration have been rigorously scrutinizing the records of multiple firms in connection with the case involving codeine-based, banned cough syrup.

Police are actively searching for Shubham Jaiswal, a resident of Prahlad Ghat, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind the operation. A case has been registered at Kotwali police station against 28 individuals, including his father, Bhola Prasad. Authorities are also preparing to cancel the licenses of 26 firms involved in the purchase and sale of the banned syrup, with all records under detailed examination.
