Bengaluru, Nov. 4 -- Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge today criticised the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), calling it a "futile exercise" aimed at diverting attention from the government's own failures.

"The Prime Minister and the Home Minister say that Bangladeshis are in the voter list. That means it's the BJP government's failure. How is it Congress' responsibility to stop infiltrators from entering the country?" Kharge said, speaking to reporters in Bengaluru.

"This SIR exercise is nothing but another futile attempt by the ECI to cover up its incompetence," he added.
