Thiruvananthapuram, April 30 -- Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala has alleged that a private company earned crores in undue profits from the Maniyar Hydroelectric Project, causing a loss of Rs 56 crore to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), with the alleged support of the government.
According to him, the build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) agreement for the project expired on December 31, 2024. However, instead of transferring ownership to KSEB, the government allowed Carborundum Universal to continue power generation and sales from the project for another 14 months.
