Sitapur (UP) , Nov. 5 -- A prisoner serving a sentence for rape died during treatment at the district hospital in Sitapur on Wednesday. Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination and initiated legal formalities.
According to Jail Superintendent SK Singh, the deceased prisoner, Vinod Kumar (57), a resident of Anand Nagar locality under Kotwali Dehat police station, had been lodged in the Sitapur District Jail since January 25, 2024, serving a seven-year sentence in a rape case.
