Dehradun, Nov. 4 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday remembered former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for creating Uttarakhand and said Himalayan state needs more women members in the legislature. Murmu praised Uttarakhand government's enactment of Uniform Civil Code(UCC) while addressing special session of the house in Dehradun.
"This state was established in November 2000 under the premiership of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee for better governance and balanced development in line with the aspirations of the people" said the president as she addressed Uttarakhand state assembly on the first day of its two-day special session.
