New Delhi, Aug. 28 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Friday celebrated Raksha Bandhan with school students from across the country at Rashtrapati Bhavan and urged them to extend the festival's values of love, care and protection to the environment.

Addressing the students, the President said Raksha Bandhan symbolised a bond of love that could be shared not only among family members and friends but also with nature, including trees and plants.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating environmental balance, Murmu encouraged the students to tie rakhis to plants and trees as a pledge to protect and nurture them.
