Washington, Aug. 27 -- US President Donald Trump is set to chair a high-level White House meeting today to discuss his administration's "comprehensive plan" for the postwar management of Gaza, his special envoy Steve Witkoff said .
The remarks marked the first time Washington has acknowledged the existence of such a plan, after months of deferring to Arab partners on Gaza's "day after."Trump previously signalled a controversial vision of taking control of Gaza and relocating residents abroad, an idea welcomed in Israel, though was staunchly rejected by the US' Arab partners.
Witkoff, speaking to Fox News, said the plan would reflect Trump's "humanitarian motives," though he did not offer additional details, reports Times of Israel.
