Shillong, April 2 -- President Droupadi Murmu has approved the prestigious Police Colour award for Meghalaya Police in recognition of exceptional service rendered, an official said on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Home Affairs conveyed the decision to State Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed that President Murmu has approved the proposal for the award of President of India's Police Colour to Meghalaya Police.
President's Colour is a special flag which is given to a military, paramilitary or police unit as a mark of recognition for its services, a government official said.
A replica of the flag presented to the unit can be worn as an insignia by all officers and ranks of the force on their uniform, the official added.
