New Delhi, Sept. 19 -- President Droupadi Murmu has amended the Inter-State Council Order, 1990, providing for Governors or Lieutenant Governors to be invited to meetings of the Council when President's Rule or specified corresponding constitutional or statutory provisions are in force in a state or the union Territories of Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Inter-State Council (Amendment) Order, 2026, issued in exercise of the powers conferred on the President under Article 263 of the Constitution, has come into force immediately, according to a Ministry of Home Affairs notification published in the Gazette of India.
