Bhubaneswar, July 7 -- India's rich repository of tribal languages, dialects, oral traditions and indigenous knowledge must be systematically preserved for future generations, union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram said on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the two-day National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) in Bhubaneswar, Oram said India's tribal communities possess an invaluable cultural and intellectual heritage that deserves sustained documentation and preservation.
He noted that while several tribal languages have developed scripts, many dialects continue to survive only through oral traditions, making their documentation an urgent national priority.
