Shimla, Feb. 7 -- In a major step aimed at regulating taxi fares and providing transparent transport facilities to tourists and residents alike, the Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to launch pre-paid taxi services in Shimla city on fixed rates.

The Transport Department has notified a comprehensive fare structure covering 26 major destinations across the city under the pre-paid taxi scheme.

According to the notification issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) R.D. Nazim, the fares have been fixed for round-trip journeys, which include one hour of free waiting time.
