Glasgow, July 30 -- India strengthened its bid for a Commonwealth Games medal in the men's triple jump as Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu booked places in the final with impressive yet contrasting qualification performances on Thursday.

Praveen stamped his authority from the outset, soaring 16.41 metres with his very first attempt to finish second in the qualification standings. The effort was enough to secure his place in the final, allowing him to conserve energy by skipping his remaining two jumps.
