Bengaluru, Aug. 12 -- The recovery of a mobile phone from former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison has brought the spotlight back on security lapses inside Karnataka's jails, with Home Minister Priyank Kharge on Wednesday saying he personally ordered the CCB raid after obtaining Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's permission.
Taking responsibility for the operation, Kharge said he had visited the prison two to three weeks ago and noticed several lapses in its functioning. After discussing the matter with senior officials, he said he decided to order the raid.
"I took the Chief Minister's permission and got the raid conducted," Kharge said, adding that around 100 CCB personnel were deployed for the operation.
