Chennai, Aug. 28 -- Chennai born Grandmaster R.Praggnanandhaa on Friday created history by becoming the first Indian to win the Grand Chess Tour title defeating US Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana in a dramatic final held at St.Louis, United States, even as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay hailed his fete terming it as a fitting recognition of his extraordinary talent and unwavering perseverence.
With this title victory, Praggnanandhaa also booked a spot in the next year's Grand Chess Tour along with Caruana, and another American Wesley So, who defeated who finished third with a 18-12 win over Vincent Keymer of Germany.
