Chennai, Aug. 28 -- Chennai born Grand Master R.Praggnanandhaa on Friday created history by becoming the first Indian to winthe Grand Chess Tour title held at St.Louis, United States, even as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay hailed his fete terming it as a fitting recognition of his extraordinary talent and unwavering perseverence.

In the final round, he defeated Fabiano Caruana of the USA, to register a superb comeback win. The Indian who was trailing by six points over Caruana, staged a remarkable come back and eventually win 15-13 to win his maiden GCT crown and the winner's purse of USD 200,000.

With this title victory, Praggnanandhaa also booked a spot in the next year's Grand Chess Tour along with Caruana, and another American Wesley...
