New Delhi, July 25 -- One of the longest serving ministers of the Modi government since 2014, union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday following weeks of unprecedented nationwide student protests over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and alleged irregularities in the CBSE's On Screen Marking (OSM) system.
In the process, he has become the first major political casualty of a crisis that paralysed Parliament, triggered one of India's largest youth-led agitations in recent years and intensified demands for sweeping reforms in the country's education system. He was promptly replaced by union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who has been given additional charge of Education.
