Power gen affected as Kudankulam Nuke Plant Unit-1, likely to restored by today

Chennai, July 5 -- Power generation in the 1000 MW Unit-1 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu was affected due to generator protection activities.

The generation was stopped at 1643 hrs on Saturday evening, the Grid Power Corporation of India said in its daily update on Sunday.

Because of this, Tamil Nadu, which is to get its share of 562 MW of the total 1000 MW from the KNPP Unit-1 was unable to get it.

However, the power generation in the plant was expected to be restored by today, it said. Power generation in KNPP-2 was continuing as usual.
