Hyderabad, April 1 -- Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday welcomed the Central Government's approval of a bill in the Lok Sabha granting statutory backing to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, and extended his congratulations to the people of the neighbouring state.

At the same time, the Minister criticised the Centre for what he termed as neglect in implementing assurances made to Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

In a statement, Ponnam Prabhakar said several key commitments made during the state bifurcation remain unfulfilled, reflecting a discriminatory approach towards Telangana.
