Dhaka, Nov. 3 -- Further exacerbating the already deep political rifts and tensions between factions, ahead of Bangladesh's upcoming national polls in February 2026, the country's newly-formed youth-based party, the National Citizen Party (NCP) alleged that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Jamaat-e-Islami, are intentionally obstructing key reform initiatives, and conspiring to delay the polls.
At a press conference in Dhaka on Sunday, NCP Convener Nahid Islam claimed that the BNP's decision to submit "notes of dissent" on major reform issues to the National Consensus Commission had cast doubt on its commitment to democratic reform.
