Hyderabad, Feb. 17 -- Telangana Jagruthi President Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday said political interference in the functioning of Anganwadis is completely unacceptable and demanded that the government immediately withdraw its decision permitting such interference.
In a video statement, Kavitha said Anganwadi centres function under the Women Development and Child Welfare Department and should be allowed to operate in a professional and people-friendly manner.
She said trust must be placed in Anganwadi staff and they should be treated with respect to ensure quality services to beneficiaries.
Kavitha said Anganwadis have played a crucial role in significantly reducing malnutrition among children and pregnant women since their inception.
