Nahan, March 29 -- Taking major action against the mining mafia over the past 48 hours, the Sirmaur District Police has seized 42 vehicles involved in illegal mining and issued challans against them.
District Superintendent of Police N S Negi stated that a planned and special operation was conducted as part of a special enforcement drive against illegal mining within Sirmaur district.
The SP informed that during the campaign, challans were issued against a total of 42 vehicles; of these, action was initiated against 39 vehicles under the Mining Act and against 3 vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act. All these vehicles have been taken into custody.
