Meerut, March 30 -- In a major breakthrough, police and the SWAT team have recovered stolen Base Band Units (BBUs) worth approximately Rs 15.4 crore and arrested one accused in connection with the case, officials disclosed Monday.
The accused, identified as Shahrukh Malik from Zakir Colony, was arrested after a joint operation by the SWAT team and Lohia Nagar police. Four other suspects are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to arrest them.
The stolen equipment included 237 BBU devices-2 belonging to Reliance Jio and 235 to Bharti Airtel-along with 156 copper cards. These BBUs are critical components of mobile towers, and their removal can completely disrupt network services.
