Bengaluru, July 14 -- In one of the biggest land frauds unearthed in Bengaluru in recent years, the city police have busted an alleged Rs 120-crore land-grabbing syndicate that used forged family trees, fake revenue records and the identities of the dead to usurp six acres of prime land belonging to the Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math.
Eleven persons, including six Revenue Department officials, have been arrested, while the alleged mastermind, Naresh Gowda of Nelamangala, is absconding.
Police said the racket exposed a deep nexus between private land brokers and government officials, with investigators suspecting similar frauds may have been carried out elsewhere in and around Bengaluru.
