Chennai, March 31 -- In a landmark judgement, a POCSO court in Tamil Nadu has awarded a staggering 178 years of jail term to a70-year-old temple priest for luring and sexually assaulting threechildren at the southern Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu.
The incident took place on September 26, 2024, when the 70-year-old priest, A.Thilagar, lured the three girls who were playing outside the temple by offering sweets and sexually assaulted them at Sozhapuram village.
The incident came to light when the girl narrated the harrowing ordeal to her parents, following which locals staged a protest outside the temple, demanding action against the priest.
