New Delhi, April 1 -- India's flagship rural housing scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), is witnessing rapid progress, with the government stepping up efforts to achieve universal housing coverage in rural areas while significantly improving living standards for millions of families.

The latest official update shows that the scheme has made substantial headway since its launch in 2016.

A total of 4.15 crore houses have been allocated under various phases, of which 3.90 crore houses have been sanctioned.

Out of these, 2.99 crore houses have already been completed, reflecting strong implementation on the ground and a steady narrowing of the rural housing gap.
