Shimla, May 12 -- Senior Congress leader and All India Congress Committee national spokesperson, Kuldeep Singh Rathore, today alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to reduce spending reflected "financial emergency-like conditions" in the country.
He claimed that recent remarks urging people to cut down on expenses, including purchase of gold, foreign travel and fuel consumption, has created an atmosphere of insecurity and concern among people and gave an impression that the country's economy was under severe pressure.
"Prime Minister should clearly explain the country's economic situation before asking citizens to bear additional financial burdens," he demanded.
