Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 19 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi was paving the way for corporate monopolies to exploit people through the country's trading sector in the name of Digital India, Revolutionary Youth Front (RYF) state secretary and MLA Adv. Vishnu Mohan alleged on Saturday.
Commenting on the proposed levy on commercial UPI transactions, Vishnu Mohan said the Centre had initially encouraged people to adopt digital transactions but was now seeking to impose an additional financial burden on them through legislation.
If traders were compelled to pay a new charge or tax on digital transactions, the additional cost would ultimately be passed on to consumers through higher prices, he said.
