New Delhi, July 26 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said developed villages are the foundation of a "Viksit Bharat" and asserted that the government's decision to treat border villages as the country's "first villages" had transformed development in frontier regions, as he interacted with participants of the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme 2026.
Addressing young participants from around 250 districts across the country, Modi said the initiative was instilling a deeper sense of nation-building among the youth and helping them understand India's diversity, culture and the strategic importance of border regions.
