Bhubaneswar, Sept. 17 -- Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday said his government is committed to ensuring adequate availability of blood in the state, as a mega donation camp organised here to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 76th birthday set a target of collecting more than 6,500 units.
The camp was organised at the IDCO Exhibition Ground as part of the month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', which the chief minister described as a "mass movement promoting human service and sacrifice".
"Saving a life by donating blood reflects our high human values. No matter how much science advances, there is no substitute for blood, and it cannot be manufactured in any factory," Majhi said.
