As India marked its 80th Independence Day, Modi responded to messages from the leaders of Bhutan, Slovakia, the Maldives, France and Nepal, underlining the importance New Delhi attaches to its bilateral relationships at a time when India is seeking to deepen strategic, economic and people-to-people engagement across its neighbourhood and beyond.
