New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi to review bilateral relations and discuss the escalating situation in West Asia.
Modi emphasised dialogue and diplomacy as the only path to lasting regional peace and stability, while stressing the need to protect freedom of navigation and commerce and ensure the safety and well-being of seafarers.
The meeting at Bharat Mandapam came at a particularly significant moment for the region, with tensions in West Asia continuing to pose challenges to regional security, global trade routes and energy supplies.
