Manila, Jan. 20 -- The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday said it has rescued a male survivor from a motorboat carrying 15 people that went missing in waters off Davao Oriental province in the southern Philippines.

In a statement, the PCG's southeastern Mindanao district said the survivor, identified as a member of the boat's crew, was found on Tuesday morning. He was immediately brought to safety as search and rescue operations continued for the remaining 14 missing passengers and crew.

The "recreational" motorboat, which had four crew members and 11 passengers on board, was reported missing on Monday, prompting the PCG to deploy search-and-rescue teams to scour the area where the vessel was last seen.
